Five Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested from a locality in Navi Mumbai for allegedly staying in the country without valid documents, police said on Tuesday. A team from the Anti-Human Trafficking Cell (AHTC) of Navi Mumbai Police raided a premises at Karanjade in Panvel on Sunday morning and found six Bangladeshi nationals, including two women, living there, a police spokesperson said. He said five were taken into custody after preliminary verification of their immigration status. "Three of the accused overstayed in India even after their visas had expired, while the other two had entered the country illegally without any valid travel documents or permissions," the official said. He said investigations revealed that the accused had managed to fraudulently acquire Indian identity documents, including Aadhaar and PAN cards and voter IDs. In a bid to enhance last-mile connectivity, complementing the upcoming launch of the second phase of the Mumbai Metro 3 Line, the BEST undertaking has proposed rationalising 32 bus routes in 2025. According to official documents accessed by PTI, the plan includes augmentation on 13 routes (464 trips), diversion of six routes (264 trips), extension of three routes (78 trips), and curtailment of 10 routes (435 trips), totalling 1,241 trips. The National Investigation Agency on Saturday collected the voice and handwriting samples of Tahawwur Rana, the alleged mastermind behind the Mumbai terror attack, before a Delhi court. Rana was brought under tight security before Judicial Magistrate First Class Vaibhav Kumar, before whom the NIA recorded his handwriting specimens in an in-chamber proceeding. Rana wrote various alphabets and numerical characters, the source said. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Saturday that the work to construct the bullet train's origin station at BKC in Mumbai is progressing rapidly. The BSE-listed entertainment company signed a memorandum of understanding with the Maharashtra government to create the facility, which has the potential to create up to 2,500 jobs, on the sidelines of the ongoing WAVES 2025 event here. Registration of properties in the Mumbai municipal region rose 12 per cent to 13,080 units in April on better housing demand, according to Knight Frank India. There were 11,648 units registered during April 2024. In a statement on Wednesday, real estate consultant Knight Frank India said Mumbai city, under the jurisdiction of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), recorded 13,080 property registrations during April. The data, which relates to both primary and secondary market transactions, is as of 8.50 pm on Wednesday. The number might increase slightly. In March 2025, the total registration of properties stood at 15,501 units. Knight Frank said this is the best April in the last 13 years in terms of property registrations.

A major fire that devastated a mall in Mumbai's upscale Bandra area was controlled after more than 22 hours of firefighting, civic officials said on Wednesday. The blaze erupted around 4.10 am on Tuesday in the basement of Link Square Mall on Linking Road in Bandra West and was extinguished at 1.41 am on Wednesday after efforts by fire brigade personnel and other emergency services, the officials said. There was no report of anybody getting injured, they said. Initially confined to an electronics goods showroom, the flames quickly engulfed the upper floors of the three-storey mall, which houses over 200 commercial establishments and shops, and completely gutted it. By 6.25 am on Tuesday, the Mumbai fire brigade upgraded the blaze to Level IV' (major fire) and launched a large-scale response. A major fire broke out in a building housing an electronics goods showroom in the suburban Bandra area early on Tuesday, officials said and added there were no immediate reports of any injuries. This is second major early-morning blaze in the metropolis in two days. On Sunday, a major fire broke out in a building housing the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in the Ballard Estate area. The officials said Tuesday's fire was reported in the multistorey building at Linking Road in the Bandra West area around 4:10 am. A civic official said the blaze was confined in the building's basement. Twelve fire engines and other firefighting vehicles are at the spot and efforts are underway to douse the flames, the official added. The fire brigade escalated the blaze to Level III, indicating a more severe category, around 4:49 am. The civic official said other agencies were also mobilised and added the cause of the fire was not yet known.

Net profit rose to Rs 2,225.51 crore in 2024-25 from Rs 1,926.60 crore a year ago. Total income increased to Rs 5,474.17 crore from Rs 4,818.77 crore.
