Piyush Goyal suggests five focus areas to enhance India-Bangladesh ties

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Sunday suggested five focus areas including trade, connectivity, health and tourism for further enhancing economic ties between India and Bangladesh. He also said that Bangladesh is India's biggest trade partner in South Asia with a volume of over USD 10 billion of trade and both the countries are looking to advance the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). I would like to suggest 5 focus areas for strengthening India-Bangladesh relationship: Trade, Technology, Connectivity, Entrepreneurship, Health & Tourism," he said while addressing the Bangladesh International Investment Summit. The minister added that efforts to further improve this connectivity is imperative for the expansion of bilateral trade and realisation of investment potential between Bangladesh and Eastern India.

Goyal asks gem, jewellery sector to focus on design, diversifying exports

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Saturday asked the gem and jewellery industry to focus on areas like design, diversification of export product basket and lab grown diamonds with a view to boost outbound shipments and job creation. He said that exports from the sector have increased to USD 23 billion during the April-October period of this fiscal. Focus on four points in the coming period. Good design should be patented; include new things such as pearls, platinum and fashion jewellery in the exports basket; increase collaboration with businesses of other countries for fusion jewellery; and (focus on) lab grown diamonds, he said at the inauguration ceremony of Gems & Jewellery Manufacturing Association, 2021.

'Triple engine' govt needed for development of Delhi: Piyush Goyal

Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal on Monday said a 'triple engine' government is needed in Delhi to enhance the development of the national capital by three times. He made these remarks while inaugurating the state BJP executive meeting here. "There will be (municipal) corporation elections next year and then the assembly polls. When there will be a BJP government (at all the three levels), it would help Delhi get a triple engine government for its overall development. This would enhance the city's development by three times and for this all workers of BJP should strive hard from now onwards in a planned way," he added. Goyal cautions cotton traders to refrain from hoarding, price manipulation

Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday cautioned cotton bale traders to refrain from manipulation of prices or resort to hoarding to make unfair profits. Addressing textile industry players in a meeting, he also told them to "resolve cotton pricing issue in the spirit of collaboration rather than competition". The Minister of Textiles, Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs and Food & Public Distribution asked the textile industry leaders not to push the government to intervene. "Goyal cautioned the cotton bale traders from manipulation of prices or do hoarding to make unfair profits," according to an official statement. The minister further stated that manufacturing sectors should not depend on government support for growth.
