Tamil Nadu CM's son Udhayanidhi Stalin sworn in as minister in cabinet

DMK legislator and the party's youth wing secretary Udhayanidhi Stalin was sworn in as Minister here on Wednesday by Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi. In the presence of Chief Minister M K Stalin and his Cabinet colleagues, Udhayanidhi was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Ravi in a simple ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan. Clad in his trademark white shirt, with a logo of DMK's youth wing embossed on it, Udhayanidhi took the oath in Tamil, in a style that was characteristic of his father, party chief M K Stalin. The swearing-in ceremony was over in 10 minutes. The 45-year old MLA was congratulated by State Ministers and senior party leaders.

UP Congress president launches regional Bharat Jodo Yatra from Lucknow

Uttar Pradesh Congress president Brijlal Khabri launched the regional Bharat Jodo Yatra from Ravindralaya Charbagh here on Monday and said the foot march is a sign of change under former party president Rahul Gandhi's leadership. Khabri was accompanied by party leader Nakul Dubey. The yatra has been launched in support of the pan-India foot march led by Gandhi. Khabri began the yatra by garlanding a statue of Bhimrao Ambedkar, the Congress said in a statement. Thousands of demonstrators took to streets around Peru for another day on Sunday to demand new President Dina Boluarte resign and schedule elections to replace her and Congress, and at least two deaths were reported amid the protests. Congress leader Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, a four-time MLA, was on Sunday sworn in as the 15th chief minister of Himachal Pradesh in a ceremony attended by senior party figures including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Sukhu, 58, was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar at a ceremony under the open sky at the historic Ridge ground here. Mukesh Agnihotri, the leader of opposition in the outgoing assembly, was administered the oath as the deputy chief minister. Police break YS Sharmila's indefinite fast, shift her to hospital

Police broke the indefinite fast of YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) president, Y S Sharmila in protest against alleged denial of permission to continue her statewide 'padayatra' and shifted her to a hospital here in the small hours of Sunday, after her health deteriorated. Sharmila had launched the indefinite hunger strike at the party headquarters here on Friday. Police forced media personnel, party leaders and cadres, to move away from the location and foiled Sharmila's fast before she was "forcefully" shifted to the hospital at around 1.00 AM today, the party said. Sharmila, did not even consume water, which resulted in her health condition deteriorating rapidly, it said. Bharat Jodo Yatra: Thousands gather to greet Rahul Gandhi in Raj's Bundi

Thousands gathered along the roads in Rajasthan's Bundi district on Saturday to welcome the Congress' Bharat Jodo Yatra as the Rahul Gandhi-led march covered nearly 30 kilometres before halting for the night. Gandhi had resumed the 94th day of the march from Gudli village in Bundi in the morning, after a day's break on Friday to celebrate his mother Sonia Gandhi's birthday. Around 6.30 pm in the evening, the yatra arrived in Kodkya village in Bundi's Kapren area via the Balapura Chouraha to a huge welcome by local people. The yatris would stay the night in the village and resume the march again on Sunday.
