Manish Tewari urges people to vote for Cong like they did in 2017 Punjab assembly polls

Senior Congress leader and party candidate for Anandpur Sahib Lok Sabha seat Manish Tewari Thursday asked people to vote for the Congress the way they did for the party in the 2017 Punjab assembly polls. "The way you voted for Amarinder Singh in 2017 giving him 77 assembly seats, in a similar way you must vote for the Congress this time also as it is the only party that takes along everyone and does not discriminate against anyone irrespective of caste, creed or colour," Tewari said. Tewari was addressing workers' meeting organised by local MLA Angad Singh after paying obeisance at Khatkar Kalan at the memorial of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh. The Congress had stormed to power in 2017 by winning 77 of the 117assembly seats in Punjab after a gap of 10 years. He was apparently referring to West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee's allegation she made earlier this month that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will throw away the Constitution to make India a totalitarian regime if he is re-elected and the upcoming Lok Sabha election could be the last one in that case. "This election is an important one. The entire world is watching it...Nehru and Gandhis preserved democracy...Some people (now) have apprehensions that this could be the last election. They are saying so in their speeches, but I don't think so," Pawar said. The former Union minister made the comment without mentioning the name of any leader. Pawar further said it is not .
