Even as the stand off between the management and union in a factory of two-wheeler major Royal Enfield in Oragadam continues, the company has attained one more order from the Madras High Court, restricting the protesters from conducting strike near its another factory in Vallam in the same district. The union, which is engaged in strike has said that the production may be affected by the strike in October also.The company, on September 28, has obtained an order from the Court directing the local police officials to protect the factory and its operations from the workers who are conducting strike against the management, restricting strikes or protests in 100 meters from its Oragadam factory. However, the workers from the protesting union has started protest near its another factory in Vallam, which is also in the same district, following which the company approached the Court. Gireesh BabuA section of workers of two wheeler major Royal Enfield's Oragadam factory, near Chennai, were shifted by the police from the factory premises today for conducting protest within the factory. Royal Enfield Employees Union, the union which has been conducting protest for almost two weeks now, has today said that around 600 workers who sat inside the facility and raised slogans were shifted by the police to a nearby hall, from where they were released later. The union alleged that the management has sought them to sign an undertaking that they will not be part of the Union and will not conduct strike again.An email sent to the company seeking comment on today's development did not elicit response till the time of going to press.The Madras High Court has earlier directed the police not to allow protests within 100 metres from the factory premises.Earlier, the Union, unrecognised by the company, alleged that the management did not allow them to carry their mobile phones into .

Royal Enfield has started commercial production from its new manufacturing facility at Vallam Vadagal near Chennai. Spread over 50 acres, the Vallam Vadagal plant will be Royal Enfield's third manufacturing facility and will manufacture Royal Enfield motorcycles for India and international markets.In 2017-18, the company plans to invest Rs 800 crores, largely towards capacity expansion at Vallam Vadagal, new products and platforms, and technical Centres in Leicester, UK and Chennai. This investment will be funded through internal accruals. In 2017-18, the combined production capacity from all the three plants is planned to be 825,000 units.
