Pele back in Brazil after hospital stay in France
Football great Pele arrived back in Brazil Tuesday after a six-day hospital stay in France. The three-time World Cup winner was discharged from a Paris hospital late Monday after treatment for an urinary infection following an appearance at a promotional event in the French capital with France striker Kylian Mbappe. Pele left the Sao Paulo-Guarulhos airport in Brazil in a wheelchair and was taken away by van, an AFP reporter said. The 78-year-old's discharge from hospital came after current Brazil star Neymar, who plays alongside Mbappe for Paris Saint-Germain, paid him a visit in hospital in the Parisian suburbs. Neymar posted a photo on his Instagram account Monday of himself alongside a smiling Pele in his hospital bed with the two holding hands. Indian football team to play in King's Cup in June
The Indian football team will be playing in the invitational King's Cup in Thailand in June. All matches will be held at the Chang Arena, Buriram, which has a seating capacity of 36000. Besides India and hosts Thailand, the other teams in the competition are Vietnam and Curacao. As per April 2019 FIFA rankings, India are ranked 101, with Thailand at 114, Vietnam at 98, and Curacao at 82. The King's Cup is a FIFA-sanctioned international 'A' tournament being organised by the Football Association of Thailand since 1968. India's previous participation in the King's Cup was in 1977. Two matches will be held on June 5, the winners of whom qualify for the final. The two others teams would be playing the play-off for the third spot. This is the first time in 18 years that the Blue Tigers will be playing in a FIFA Ranking tournament, the last being the Merdeka Tournament in Kuala Lumpur in 2001. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has named Iqbal Imam as the batting coach for the women's team, replacing Andy Richards from Australia."Iqbal's appointment is also a testament to the PCB's commitment to reward and promote all the top performers, while also creating merit-based coaching opportunities for talented Pakistani coaches," the PCB said in a statement on Monday.Imam is currently the head coach of the Karachi region.
