Train 18 generic name, will live forever as symbol of India's self reliance: former GM ICF

A day after Union minister Piyush Goyal named the railways' ambitious Train18 as Vande Bharat Express, the man who led the team of its manufacturers said the train will always be known by its generic name. Acknowledging its made-in-India status, the Indian Railways Sunday named the indigenously manufactured semi-fast Train 18 as Vande Bharat Express. The train will ply from the national capital to Varanasi, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said Sunday. Ambati Rayudu suspended from bowling in international cricket

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday suspended wicket-keeper batsman Ambati Rayudu from bowling in international cricket as he failed to submit a test of his suspected bowling action within the stipulated period.The 33-year-old faced an immediate suspension in accordance with clause 4.2 of the ICC regulations.The suspension will remain in place until he is tested, and can demonstrate if he is able to bowl with legal action.On January 13, Rayudu was reported for a suspect bowling action during the first One-Day International against Australia in Sydney and was required to undergo testing within 14 days.According to Article 11.5 of the Regulations and with the consent of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Rayudu could be allowed to bowl in domestic cricket events played under the auspices of the Indian cricket board.

Police team attacked in J-K's Rajouri; four arrested

A police team was attacked by locals with stones while it was tracking a gang of drug peddlers in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district, police said Monday. Acting on a tip-off, the police team led by Rajouri city in-charge Sub -Inspector Danish Maqbool raided a shop where the peddlers were present. The owner of the shop fled the spot and when the police team tried to catch hold of him, his family members started pelting stones on the police. In the attack, some of the team members were injured, Rajouri SSP Yougal Manhas said. A team headed by Rajouri SHO Ajaz Haider and DSP Govind Rattan was rushed to the spot and the situation was brought under control. A case was registered against six accused and four were arrested, the SSP said. He said that a special team has been formed to nab the two accused who were at large.

Rayudu suspended from bowling in international cricket

Ambati Rayudu was Monday suspended from bowling in international cricket by the ICC after the Indian player opted against getting his suspect action tested within the stipulated 14-day period. Rayudu was reported for a suspect action during the first ODI against Australia on January 13. "The player elected not to submit to a test of his bowling action within the stipulated period of 14 days of being reported for a suspect action, and therefore he has been suspended with immediate effect...," the ICC said in a statement. The suspension was done in "accordance with clause 4.2 of the ICC regulations" which deals with the legality of bowling actions. "The suspension will remain in place until he is tested, and can demonstrate he is able to bowl with a legal action," the world body stated.
