Telangana CM Revanth Reddy completes 20 years as elected representative

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday marked a major political milestone, completing 20 years as an elected representative. His two-decade journey began on July 4, 2006, when he was first elected as a Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) member. Despite starting his student politics with the ABVP, Reddy was elected as ZPTC as an Independent candidate from Midjil in his native Mahabubnagar district. Known for his energy and ebullient style, Reddy was elected to the Legislative Council a year later, again as an Independent candidate. He soon joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and emerged as a key leader in the N Chandrababu Naidu-led party. He successfully won in the Legislative Assembly elections in 2009 and 2014 from Kodangal and served as Working President of TDP's Telangana unit after the bifurcation of undivided Andhra Pradesh. As TDP's footprint faded in Telangana, Reddy joined the Congress in 2017 while maintaining cordial ties with TDP leaders. Re

Trump's remarks on Truth Social on Friday came after the Telangana government named a road adjoining the US Consulate in the southern Indian city as "Donald Trump Avenue". "The new Donald Trump Avenue in Hyderabad, India -- The first US President to ever be honoured in this way. Thank you," Trump said, sharing a photograph of Telangana deputy chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and US envoy to India Sergio Gor unveiling the ceremonial plaque earlier this week. The newly named Donald Trump Avenue is also close to the offices of major American tech firms, including Microsoft, Google and Amazon. The Telangana government described the designation as a tribute to the United States and a recognition of Hyderabad's growing role in US-India relations.

Telangana govt bans cash wages, brings gig workers under new regulations

In a major policy shift hailed as "gold standard for progressive labour governance", the Telangana government has officially banned cash wage payments to workers, mandated electronic transfer, and brought gig workers under the safety net of minimum wages. A new government order (GO) on labour governance activates the provisions of the Centre's Code on Wages, 2019, completely repealing and superseding the Minimum Wages Act, 1948, across the state. A government statement on Monday said, "Payouts via paper cash are explicitly banned. Employers must disburse wages through direct electronic transfer (NEFT/RTGS/IMPS) or bank check, building an unalterable trail for labour inspectors and protecting vulnerable workgroups." By bridging structural business requirements with social protections, the GO (No 6) achieves an "elegant legal balance," it said. The GO eliminates the "fragmented, friction-heavy industries-wise frameworks seen in other states" and implements a unified, transparent grid
