Telangana IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao has received an invite to attend the World Economic Forum's 14th 'Annual Meeting of the New Champions' which will be held in China in June. The meeting would be held from June 27 to 29, 2023 in Tianjin, China, a release from Rama Rao's office said on Thursday. Telangana to buy every grain of paddy damaged due to unseasonal rains: CM

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday assured farmers that the state government would procure every grain of paddy damaged due to unseasonal rains witnessed over the last few days. He told the farmers not to worry about paddy that got wet due to the rains. The Chief Minister made it clear that the state government would pay equal price to the damaged paddy as it is paid for normal ones during the procurement process, an official release said. Rao, who held a meeting with ministers and officials, directed the agriculture department to study what policies should be adopted in future so that 'yasangi' (summer) paddy harvesting can be completed before March in view of the unseasonal rains. He asked the department to take appropriate measures to sensitise the farmers in this direction. The Chief Minister also suggested to the farmers to postpone harvesting for another three to four days in view of rains continuing in the state, it said.

Telangana govt to introduce insurance scheme for toddy tappers: CM Rao

: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is set to introduce the 'Geetha Karmikula Bhima' (insurance for toddy tappers) on the lines of Rythu Bhima for farmers, which is currently being implemented in the state. A press release from the chief minister's office said that insurance money of Rs five lakh would be deposited directly in the bank account of the respective family members in case any toddy tapper dies accidentally while collecting toddy from palm trees in the fields. The CM instructed State Finance Minister T Harish Rao and Excise and Prohibition Minister V Srinivas Goud to prepare guidelines for the new insurance scheme, the release said. Jindal Stainless Ltd on Tuesday said it supplied 300 metric tonnes of stainless steel for 125-ft tall statue of B R Ambedkar in Telangana. On April 14, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao unveiled the 125-ft tall statue of Babasaheb in Hyderabad on the occasion of his 132nd birth anniversary. In a statement, the steel maker said it has supplied grade 304 hot-rolled stainless steel (SS) in a thickness range of 12 mm - 32 mm. The SS has been used in the armature structure of the statue. The statue is located on the banks of Hussain Sagar lake, in the vicinity of the newly built Secretariat, which has also been named after B R Ambedkar.
