The TVS Motor stock has been hitting successive 52-week highs on strong volume performance in September and market share gains in the two wheeler space. In addition to the sales, the company is expected to post strong September quarter results. And, the road ahead, too, is looking good. Volumes in September month for TVS Motor were up 23 per cent year-on-year, led by a 43 per cent increase in scooter despatches. Scooters account for 34 per cent of the company's volumes currently. The increasing scooterisation being witnessed by the industry is expected to help TVS gain on the volumes and market share fronts. Share of scooters in two wheeler industry's volumes increased by 400 basis points year-on-year to 34 per cent in the June quarter led by the southern region. TVS Motor to invest Rs 500 cr in FY18

TVS Motor, maker of two-wheelers and three-wheelers, plans to invest Rs 450-500 crore this financial year, mostly on new products. Despite the impact created by demonetisation, the goods and services tax and higher emission norms, TVS says it is confident of a double-digit operating earnings margin.K N Radhakrishnan, chief executive, said till last October (the financial year starts in April), the industry was growing at 12 per cent, while TVS' was 18.6 per cent. After which, industry growth came down to 5.3 per cent, while TVS growth dropped to 11.3 per cent. He expects TVS to increase its market share by 1.5 percentage points this year.He said he expected the industry to come back to the earlier growth trajectory and for TVS growth to be higher. TVS Motor acquires 24% stake in online marketplace RentOnGo

TVS Motor Company Ltd has acquired a 24 per cent stake in RentOnGo, an online marketplace for renting bikes. The two-wheeler and three-wheeler maker invested Rs 1.5 crore in the Bengalaru-based start-up.While TVS Motor did not respond to Business Standard's query, in a filing the company said that the investment is from the futuristic outlook on the emerging pay-by service model.The investment was made in Condivision Solutions Pvt. Ltd, which operates RentOnGo. TVS Motor has received patent protection for its innovation related to a headlamp mounting arrangement, which may save a potential damage the conventional headlamp may cause to the front cover of the vehicle.This is expected to improve the life of its the front portion of the two wheeler and may result in saving part of repairing cost. Two wheeler major TVS Motors has said that it is not expecting any major impact due to the Goods and Services Tax (GST) implementation, though there might be initial issues. The company is looking at being a strong No.2 player in the scooter market in the country in the near term, said Aniruddha Haldar, VP Marketing - Scooters, TVS Motor Company."If you look at it for the year, I wont think it will affect us. The rate is not really different for us pre and post GST. So it is not that there will be a huge price benefit. It will be between 28-30 per cent now. There is no much of a change," he said.For a period of one or two months, when the system is transitioning, a movement from one month to the other may happen. New launches to help TVS gain market share in FY18

The TVS Motor stock was up nearly 4 per cent intraday on volume performance in May which beat analyst estimates. While the company's two wheeler sales was up 15.6 per cent year on year to 2.82 lakh units, scooter sales were up 31 per cent. The motorcycle segment grew sharply by 22 per cent to 1.18 lakh units as against estimates of just over a lakh units. Exports grew by 14 per cent.Going ahead, the company is expected to do well on the back of an improvement in export volumes post the recent tie up in South America and outperformance in the domestic market on new launches. The company is looking to launch a new 110cc scooter with an aim to boost its scooter market share. The new scooter is expected to be priced at a premium to the TVS Scooty Zest model. TVS Motor sales up 16% in May

TVS Motor Company posted a growth of 15.7 per cent in sales during the month of May 2017, at 282,007 units as compared to 243,783 units sold during the month of May 2016.Two-wheeler sales of the company grew 15.6 per cent to 275,426 units during May, 2017, as compared to 238,320 units sales posted the same month of last year. Domestic two-wheeler sales grew by 16.3 per cent to 240,527 units from 206,886 units during May, last year.Scooters sales of the company increased 30.9 per cent to 85,681 units as against 65,434 units and year ago. TVS Motor's bikes to get new antilock brake system with grant of patent

TVS Motor has bagged a patent for its antilock brake system (ABS) for motorcycle, to overcome the problems or defects or drawbacks encountered in the previous models. The company is currently using the ABS technology in its high end motorcycle TVS Apache, in collaboration with German component manufacturer Continental Corporation.The company says that ABS in motorcycle prevents locking of the front and rear wheels by automatically regulating the braking force acting on the front and rear wheels at the time of braking operation.The patent application was filed in December 2009 and the company claimed that the said invention is to substantially overcome the problems or defects or drawbacks encountered in the known system.
