Hero MotoCorp plans to boost growth in under-represented segments: CEO

Hero MotoCorp aims to strengthen its presence in segments such as scooters, premium bikes, and electric vehicles, where it currently remains under-represented, according to the company's CEO Harshvardhan Chitale. The country's largest two-wheeler maker also expects to expand its presence in international markets and the parts and accessories business. "While we take pride as a team in our volume leadership at Hero MotoCorp, we are all acutely aware of the opportunities that exist in some of the other categories, which are growing faster and where we are relatively under-represented," Chitale said in an analyst call. "Hence, we see a big headroom for growth and market share expansion in categories like scooters, in premium motorcycles, in global markets, in EV, and also above all, parts and accessories business because we are a company that has the biggest park size in the market," he added. For the December quarter, the company reported a revenue of Rs 12,487 crore with a PAT of Rs

Electric two-wheelers to see 16-18% volume growth in FY28: Crisil

The easing of rare-earth supply is expected to drive electric two-wheeler volume growth in India to 16-18 per cent next fiscal after moderating to 12-13 per cent in the ongoing fiscal due to supply chain constraints, according to Crisil Ratings. This fiscal, the electric two-wheeler (E2W) growth is expected to moderate due to temporary disruptions in the supply of rare-earth magnets and the goods and services tax (GST) rationalisation on internal combustion engine (ICE) models, Crisil Ratings said in a statement. In the previous fiscal, E2W volume growth was at 22 per cent, it added. "The supply disruption caused by the shortage of rare-earth magnets had weighed on E2W volumes around mid-year. As availability began to ease, coinciding with the GST-led price revision in ICE models, OEMs relied on discounting and introduced lower-priced electric models to narrow the ICE-EV price gap," Crisil Ratings Senior Director Anuj Sethi said. While this has supported a recovery in volumes in ..

Electric two-wheeler penetration could rise to about 40 per cent by FY31 in an 'optimistic scenario' when the overall two-wheeler industry in India touch 3-3.1 crore units annually growing at 8 per cent CAGR, according to Ather Energy Ltd. The growth is expected to be driven by increased EV launches, strong government support, rapid infrastructure development, reduced battery prices, and a faster consumer shift, the company said in its annual report for 2024-25. In its management discussion and analysis, Ather Energy said the rapidly expanding EV market, propelled by legacy players increasing their EV portfolios and new entrants expanding capacity, is accelerating growth. Honda eyes 30% share in Indian 2W market, targets more women buyers

Japanese auto major Honda is targeting a 30 per cent share in the Indian two-wheeler market by 2030, as it chases the goal to achieve half of global two-wheeler sales in the long term, according to a top official of the company's arm in India. The company's arm, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI), sees huge potential to grow sales among female customers, who currently account for just about 10 per cent of the overall industry sales, HMSI President Tsutsumu Otani told PTI in an interview. He also said that while the company sees a shift from internal combustion engine (ICE) to electric vehicles in the two-wheeler segment in the long term, bottlenecks around charging infrastructure and electricity supplies are major impediments at present. "Considering the Indian market size, we want to achieve 30 per cent share in India by 2030," Otani said when asked about the significance of the Indian market in Honda's overall long-term goal to garner 50 per cent of global two-wheeler ...
