Ensure prompt redressal of people's complaints: Adityanath to officials

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday directed officials to ensure prompt and satisfactory redressal of people's complaints so that they feel the government is sensitive towards their problems. He issued these instructions while listening to the problems and grievances of people during "Janata Darshan" held in front of Digvijaynath Smriti Bhavan at Gorakhnath temple here. Adityanath said the government was working for the people and will stand by them through thick and thin and resolve their issues. He asked officials to look into the problems of people and ensure time-bound, fair and satisfactory redressal of their grievances. On complaints related to crime, the chief minister directed police officers to take strict action against criminals. Uttar Pradesh surpasses Maharashtra in sugar production this season

Uttar Pradesh has surpassed Maharashtra in sugar production in the current season even as 118 sugar mills operated in UP during the period compared to 210 mills that were operational in the western state. UP's Cane Development and Sugar Mills' minister Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary told PTI, "UP is ahead of Maharashtra as far as production of sugar is concerned along with a number of other factors." Elaborating further, Chaudhary said, "The total sugar produced by Uttar Pradesh in sugar season 2022-2023 is 107.29 lakh tonnes (which includes 3.05 lakh tonnes of Khandsari (physically extracted sugar from liquid jaggery), as compared to 105.30 lakh tonnes by Maharashtra. The area under cane cultivation in Uttar Pradesh is 28.53 lakh hectare (maximum in India) as compared to 14.87 lakh hectare in Maharashtra." The sugarcane crushing season runs from October to June. The Allahabad High Court on Friday declared the appointment of senior IPS officer Ashutosh Pandey as the head of the Uttar Pradesh Directorate of Prosecution as illegal and without authority of law. The court said the appointment was contrary to statutory provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), which states that a person holding this post must be in practice as an advocate for not less than 10 years and such an appointment should be made with the concurrence of the chief justice of the state's high court. Besides, the court also directed the state government to ensure the appointment of a new director of prosecution within six month's time. Uttar Pradesh govt top buyer of goods and services from GeM portal in FY23

Uttar Pradesh emerged as the largest buyer of goods and services among all states and Union Territories from government portal GeM in 2022-23, according to the central government data. The Uttar Pradesh government and its agencies procured goods and services worth Rs 12,152 crore from the union commerce ministry's platform Government e-marketplace (GeM) during last fiscal year, the data showed. It was followed by Gujarat (Rs 7,964 crore) , Maharashtra (Rs 4,130 crore), Jammu and Kashmir (Rs 1,999 crore) and Madhya Pradesh (Rs 1,983 crore). Noida Police rounds up 135 history-sheeters in overnight raids: Official

The Noida Police on Thursday rounded up 135 history-sheeters and anti-social elements in a major operation to check criminal activities in the region, a senior officer said. Those rounded up were let off by the police in the morning after a detailed verification of their current whereabouts, financial sources, and professions, they said. Security was stepped up in the Tilhar area of the district here after a large number of people gathered outside a police station demanding the arrest of a youth accused of sharing a social media post on Prophet Mohammad, police said on Wednesday. The accused has since been arrested and police have been deployed at his house to prevent any flare-ups. UP Rera to use AI in quasi-judicial cases in e-Courts for faster resolution

The Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP RERA) on Tuesday said it has invited expression of interest (EOI) for use of artificial intelligence in quasi-judicial process in e-Courts. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) includes interventions at the level of complaint filing, filtering or prioritisation of cases or notifications and tracking of cases, it said in an official statement. UP court agrees to hear plea seeking ASI survey of entire Gyanvapi complex

A court here on Tuesday agreed to hear a plea for a survey by the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) of the entire Gyanvapi mosque premises located next to the Kashi Vishwanath temple. Accepting the petition filed by lawyer Vishnu Shankar Jain, who represents the Hindu side, District Court Judge A K Vishvesh asked the Gyanvapi mosque committee to file its reply to the plea by May 19, District Government Counsel Mahendra Nath Pandey said. The court fixed the next hearing in the matter on May 22.
