New Governor of West Bengal C V Ananda Bose is likely to fly to New Delhi on Thursday, where he could meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah, as part of a protocol visit, a Raj Bhavan source said. Bose is expected to be on a four-day tour to the national capital, though nothing has been finalised yet, he said. "This is a protocol visit. The center when developed will serve the underserved markets of the east and north-east regions along with the SAARC countries, Nxtra Executive Director and chief operating officer Rajesh Tapadia said on the occasion of the ground breaking ceremony. CV Ananda Bose will take oath as the new governor of West Bengal on Wednesday, an official said. Bose, who was named the new governor on November 17, will take oath at the Raj Bhavan, he said. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and other dignitaries, including assembly Speaker Biman Bandyopadhyay and Leader of Opposition Suvendhu Adhikary, will be present at the programme, the official said on Tuesday. The governor is administered the oath by the chief justice of the high court. Bose, a retired Kerala cadre IAS officer of the 1977 batch, will replace La Ganesan as the governor. Calcutta HC rejigs SIT, DIG to head team in staff recruitment scam case

The Calcutta High Court on Wednesday removed two officers from the CBI Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the staff recruitment scam in West Bengal and brought in four new investigators as members. It also appointed a DIG as its head. The case pertains to irregularities in the recruitment of Group C and Group D staff and teachers in government-run and aided schools by the School Service Commission. Observing that the Cental Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was moving very slowly for "reasons best known to it", Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay said despite the SIT having been formed five months ago, only 16 of the 542 named as illegal-job getters in Group D had been questioned so far. The court, which is monitoring the investigation, directed that four new officers -- a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and three inspectors -- will be inducted in the originally five-member SIT, while it ordered the removal of two officers -- a DSP and an inspector -- from the team.
