BJP hits back at Rahul Gandhi, says country has moved on from lost decade

The BJP Wednesday slammed Rahul Gandhi over his comments on the Centre's Make in India initiative and said the Congress leader may have finally admitted the failures of the UPA rule but India has already moved on from that "lost decade" under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. The ruling party's reaction came after Gandhi, in a post on X, said Prime Minister Modi did not mention Make in India in his speech in the Lok Sabha and asserted that he must acknowledge that the initiative was a failure. The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha also said that no government in recent times -- the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) or the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) -- had been able to meet at scale the national challenge of providing jobs. Delhi voters seek action on daily issues like sanitation, jobs, inflation

Delhiites on Wednesday exercised their right to vote while expressing concerns about key issues such as civic amenities, employment opportunities, and inflation -- matters which directly impact their daily lives. Basin (67), a resident of Kalkaji, said he was voting in the hope of improving the entire constituency. "I am here to vote against corruption and poor sanitation. The issues don't need to be highlightedjust look at the roads. When you step out of the house, you can clearly see all the sanitation problems. The entire constituency needs cleanliness. The roads are there, but they're broken and congested. Similarly, the drainage and sewage systems are open," he stated. Polling, which began at 7 am, is underway at 13,766 stations across Delhi's 70 constituencies to decide the fate of 699 candidates. It will continue until 6 pm. Delhi Assembly elections: 19.95 per cent voter turnout recorded till 11 am

A voter turnout of over 19 per cent was recorded in the first four hours of the Delhi Assembly elections on Wednesday. Polling began at 7 am and will continue until 6 pm. According to Election Commission data, 19.95 per cent voters cast their votes till 11 am. The highest voter turnout was recorded in the North East district at 24.87 per cent and Babarpur was leading among constituencies at 31.30 per cent. Central Delhi district recorded the lowest voter turnout at 16.46 per cent with only 11 per cent voters exercising their franchise in Karol Bagh constituency. East Delhi district recorded 20.03 per cent polling, New Delhi 16.80 per cent, North 18.63 per cent, Northwest 19.75 per cent, Shahdara 23.30 per cent, South 19.75 per cent, South East 19.66 per cent, South West 21.90 per cent and West 17.67 per cent, according to the data. Delhi polls: ADR flags non-compliance of norms by candidates, parties

Out of 118 candidates with criminal record contesting the Delhi Assembly polls, 24 candidates (20 per cent) did not have their records disclosed or justified by their respective parties, poll rights body ADR said on Tuesday. A total of 699 candidates are contesting the upcoming assembly polls in Delhi. The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) has released a detailed analysis of the Delhi Assembly elections 2025. The report, based on Format C7 data, revealed that many political parties failed to disclose reasons for selecting candidates with pending criminal cases as directed by the Supreme Court. Out of 699 candidates contesting the elections, 118 have declared criminal cases against themselves and among them, 71 candidates face serious criminal charges, including corruption, rioting and violent offenses.
