BHEL invests Rs 1200 cr in capacity expansion

Bharath Heavy Electrical Limited invested Rs 1,200 crore on fresh equipment during the tenth five year plan period, in order to enhance the compnay's installed capacity to 10,000 mega watts by 2007-end.
 
Talking to the media here, S M Mahajan, general manager, Central Manufacturing Technology and Investment Planning, BHEL Corporate Office, Delhi, said the company was planning to increase the capacity to 13,000 mega watts by the end of the eleventh five year plan period (April 2007 "� March 2012) with an additional investment of Rs 3,200 crore.
 
As of now, the company has orders worth more than Rs 40,000 crore to be implemented in the next two to three years, he added.
 
BHEL, Trichy unit spent Rs 200 crore during the current five year plan period for increasing its installed capacity from 4500 mw to 6000 mw.
 
The company was all set to increase its capacity for manufacturing nuclear turbines to 700 mw from the present capacity of 500 mw.
 
Similarly, thermal turbine manufacturing capacity would be increased to 800 mw, Mahajan said.
