Dishman buys Swiss pharma major Carbogen

Dishman Pharmaceuticals and Chemicals Ltd has acquired Carbogen Amcis AG, a Swiss research based company with three production facilities in Switzerland for manufacturing high potent, high value products.

The acquisition from Solutia Europe SA/NV is worth $75 million (inclusive of $ 9 million in working capital). The acquired pharma business service has world-class R&D facilities, in addition to free state "� of "�art productions facilities at Aarau, Bubendorf, and Neuland in Switzerland.

All intellectual property, patents and trademarks, customer contracts, as well as employees of the pharmaceutical services business have been included in the transaction.

Announcing the acquisition today, the Dishman said the acquisition will boost Dishman's contract manufacturing business from Carbogen customers.

The acquisition also makes Dishman as the only contract manufacturing organisation in India with high potency manufacturing capability.

Dishman acquired the shares and assets of Carbogen Amcis, through its wholly owned subsidiary namely Dishman Pharma Solutions ( DPS AG ) on 22nd August, 2006.
