HCL Info profit rises

HCL Infosystems posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 87.98 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2007, 4.2 per cent increase over the Rs 84.44 crore figure for the March 2006 quarter. The company's total income (net of excise) stood at Rs 2,916.04 crore for the quarter ended March 2007, whereas the same was Rs 3,200.29 crore for the quarter ended March 2006 "" a decline of around 9 per cent.

The networking business of HCL Infinet, a wholly-owned subsidiary, has been demerged and transferred to Microcomp (a wholly-owned subsidiary of HCL Infinet) from April 1, 2006.

HCL Infinet, with the residual telecommunication and office automation business was amalgamated with the company and it stands dissolved without winding up. Subsequently, Microcomp and Stelmac Engineering Pvt Ltd "" the erstwhile subsidiaries of HCL Infinet "" have now become wholly-owned subsidiaries of the company.
