HCL sets up Global Enterprise Mobility lab in Singapore

HCL Technologies Ltd today launched a Global Enterprise Mobility Laboratory in Singapore, aiming to further enhance its expertise and capabilities in offering the next generation integrated software solutions.

The laboratory, HCL's second after one similar facility was set up in London in December 2008, would spearhead the Indian software group's global research and development efforts, its Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Vineer Nayar said.

"The Merlin, or Mobility Experiences Ready to Lead Business Innovation lab, will leverage HCLs global acknowledged product engineering DNA," HCL said in a statement issued after the launch of the laboratory.

It would also cross-reference HCL's experience in micro verticals like retail, consumer packaged goods, media & entertainment, banking and others to ensure superior consumer experience oriented IPs, applications and solutions tailored for devices such as tablet PCs, said HCL.

"Enterprise Mobility is transforming the world in many unique ways and we at HCL have the capabilities and expertise to be a market and thought leader in this space," HCL said.

"The anchoring of this campaign in the form of our Mobility Lab in Singapore reflects the strategic importance of the Singapore market in HCL's growth strategy and reiterates our focus on the rapidly growing Asia Pacific regin," said Nayar.

India's High Commissioner to Singapore T C A Raghavan and Singapore's Director of Infocomms & Media Jayson Goh officiated the launch of the laboratory, which is spread across 35,000 sq ft of high-tech space in Singapore's industrial region of Jurong.
