Maruti-800 (STD) price reduced at Rs 1.99 lakh

In order to attract entry level customers, Maruti Udyog (MUL) has reduced the prices of its compact car, Maruti 800.

According to a Maruti release issued to the BSE, the changed price of Maruti 800 (STD) at Rs 1.99 lakh becomes even more affordable for people upgrading from a two-wheeler.

The car penetration level in India stands abysmally low at about 6-7 cars per 1000 people. The company's schemes like "2 ka 4" and special offers for teachers also drew good response, the release said.

The company has now announced more attractive price for Maruti 800 to cater to entry-level customers and to expand the market, the release added.
