Rel Entertainment buys US firm's digital biz

The American firm provides picture quality improvement services for movies.
 
Reliance Big Entertainment, the flagship entertainment company of the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, has acquired the digital images business of the US-based DTS.
 
This is the first acquisition by Reliance Big Entertainment in the digital services space overseas.
 
DTS Digital Images (DDI), popularly known as Lowry Digital Images, provides picture quality improvement services for movies, television and video content.
 
With this acquisition, Reliance Big Entertainment would gain access to Hollywood studios for its content and post-production services, said the company's media release.
 
It will be cater to the rapidly growing 3D content market with technology solutions for correcting original stereoscopic footage and re-rendering 2D footage into 3D.
 
DDI works with Walt Disney, Paramount Pictures, MGM and 20th Century Fox and entertainment leaders including George Lucas and James Cameroon.
 
It has restored more than 300 of the world's most recognized feature films with output to DVD, HiDef, 35mm film, Digital Cinema and IMAX.
