SonoSite eyes 40% sales growth in India

Betting big on the specific pricing policy that has been designed for India, US-based SonoSite Inc, which is into manufacture of hand-carried ultrasound systems, is targeting a 40 per cent growth in sales in the country this year.
 
"The Indian healthcare segment offers a significant opportunity to SonoSite as it is one of the rapidly growing markets in the world. We have been following an India-specific price policy, which resulted in a year-on-year growth of 30-35 per cent. This year, we expect to achieve a 40 per cent growth in sales in the country," Pavan Behl, country manager (India), SonoSite, told mediapersons here on Friday.
 
SonoSite's product range starts from Rs 8.5 lakh and goes up to Rs 20-22 lakh in India, depending on the configuration and features, while it sells its products for anywhere between $35,000 and $60,000 in the US.
 
The $171-million company sold around 100 units across four models "� MicroMaxx, Titan, 180Plus and iLook Systems "� in India last year, of which around 35 units had been installed in south during the last nine months. Thus far, the seven-and-a-half-year-old company sold over 30,000 units worldwide.
