| SpiceJet net profit at Rs 9.34 cr in Q3 |
| SpiceJet Ltd will buy 10 Boeing 737-800 aircraft at an estimated cost of $620 million, Executive Chairman Siddhanta Sharma said on Tuesday. He said the deliveries of these aircraft would start from 2011 onwards. |
| The airline has posted a net profit of Rs 9.34 crore in the Oct-Dec quarter. The profit includes income of Rs 3.53 crore from foreign exchange fluctuation and income of Rs 5.76 crore from the sale of two aircraft. |
| Pantaloon Retail net declines 28% |
| Pantaloon Retail India Ltd, the country's biggest supermarket operator by market value, has said second-quarter profit fell 28 per cent. Net income fell to Rs 31.65 crore in the three months ended December 31, 2007 from Rs 43.97 crore a year earlier. Sales rose 63 per cent to Rs 123 crore, the company informed the National Stock Exchange. |
| The company's board on Tuesday also approved a plan to set up a unit for its hypermarket division. Pantaloon will set up the unit for its hypermarket Big Bazaar, which includes its food retailing store Food Bazaar. |
| India Infoline net jumps 261% |
| Buoyed by a strong performance across sectors, securities firm India Infoline on Tuesday said it had recorded a 261 per cent growth in consolidated net profit at Rs 65 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2007 from Rs 18 crore in the corresponding quarter in the previous fiscal. |
| Income from operations was also up 171 per cent in the Oct-Dec 2007 period at Rs 311 crore, as compared with Rs 114.5 crore in the previous corresponding period. |
| In the broking business, India Infoline recorded an average daily turnover of Rs 3,530 crore on the National Stock Exchange, an increase by 66 per cent over that in the previous quarter of the current fiscal year. |
