Tally ties up with Osmania varsity

The Education and Training Business Division of Tally (India) Private Limited has tied up with Osmania University to train the latter's students in Tally's accounting software, Tally 7.2.
Under the tie-up, Tally will supply its accounting software free of cost to around 360 colleges affiliated to the university and train their commerce faculty in the accounting software. The integration of the Tally program with the academic curriculum will help students get the TCP (Tally Certified Professional) certification as they graduate.
Speaking to mediapersons on the formal announcement of the tie-up, Bharath Gopalkrishnan, CEO (south Asia business), Tally, said, "We are investing about Rs 30 lakh in this initiative to facilitate hands on training in the affiliated colleges of Osmania University."
The tie-up would help students get certified as TCPs and can later register with the Placement Services Division, a facility provided exclusively for TCPs, he added.
The tie-up with Tally is currently being extended to all under-graduate programmes in commerce and is planned to be extended to the post-graduate level in future.
Under the initiative, commerce faculty of 120-affiliated colleges has already undergone a two-day training programme in February-March 2006. Tally entered into a similar tie-up with Bangalore University in December 2005.
The tie-up with Tally is one such initiative of the university wherein students are prepared for industry-readiness, he said. The university entered into a tie up with BPO major Genpact last year for its BCom (Computer Science) programme. Suleman Siddiqi, vice-chancellor, Osmania University, said, "The university has been actively involved in the creation of an industry-university hub. As part of these efforts, last year we invited various corporate houses from Hyderabad in the IT, biosciences and medical sectors to identify what the industry requires from the academia and we will soon bring out a white paper on the inputs from these meetings."
