Techbooks eyes north to achieve 40% growth rate

Ashish Sharma New Delhi/ Jalandhar
While aiming for 40 per cent growth, the US-based publishing house, Techbooks, with a turnover of $4.5 billion, is set to exploit the growing publishing industry of the Jalandhar region.

To achieve its target, Techbooks, which has made its presence in New Delhi, apart from nine locations worldwide, is looking at the northern region for an expansion of its services in the publishing industry.

At present, the company delivers advanced and integrated content transformation solutions for the publishing industry, enabling customers to uncover digital revenue opportunities and to turn static data into dynamic digital content.

"The region has talented people and we are planning to tap the potential through acquisitions or setting up development centres," said Ranjit Singh, chief executive officer and president of Techbooks.

For exploiting the market, the company has planned an investment of about $6 million.

"Currently, we are located in Delhi with not much presence in the northern region. We have been able to attract a lot of people from the north, especially from places like Chandigarh and Punjab," said Ranjit Singh.

Talking about other expansion plans, he said the industry was growing at a fast pace and to achieve the targeted growth rate, the company would open more offices overseas in the European countries.

"The company is only catering for the overseas market and areas where good scope is available in legal books, apart from pharmaceutical, financial and educational, investing about $10 million in human resources and technology," he said.
