The Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs (Cowe) would take up new skill-based training programmes for women entrepreneurs in the state in the social and digital marketing arenas. It is also encouraging them to scale up their businesses by identifying export markets and market linkages.

The body has identified areas including textiles, handicrafts, event management services, sanitary services management and green businesses.

At the ninth formation day of Cowe today, its president Soudhamini said women entrepreneurs had to fully utilise the export incentives provided by industry and commerce ministry, and exploit the potential of the digital marketing platform to reach global consumers.

For its 1,500 members, Cowe has been annually organising around 20 training programmes across various segments in collaboration with the MSME board, National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC).

On Thursday, at a seminar on 'Export Opportunities for Women Entrepreneurs', its members interacted with Walmart, Unilever and Panasonic over product procurement and networking. Some of its member entrepreneurs are also supplying products to Walmart, said Soudhamini.

Virginia Little John, CEO and co-founder of Quantum Leaps Inc, said it would collaborate with Cowe and other city-based organisations as part of the International Trade Centre's Roadmap to 2020 in India, which focuses on women business scalability across more than six cities which have a high concentration of MNCs. Quantum Leaps, along with WEConnect International, had organised a city roadmap recently in Bengaluru. It plans to hold the second exercise in Hyderabad or Delhi.
