Andhra govt to hike MSP for pulses

The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to increase the minimum support price (MSP) of pulses (red gram, black gram and green gram) to Rs 2,000 per quintal from Rs 1,750 this season.
 
The move comes in the wake of the Centre's thrust on raising the production of pulses, rice and wheat under the food security programme.
 
Besides promoting the acreage under pulses during the present kharif season, the state government has also decided to enhance the agriculture credit for the season by Rs 600 crore to Rs 2,400 cras compared with Rs 1,800 cr in the last Kharif season, according to a press release.
