Central Bureau of Investigation today questioned Congress MP Vijay Darda’s son Devendra Darda and Rishi Darda of JLD Yavatmal in connection with the coal allocation scam. CBI sleuths questioned the two officials for over five hours in its headquarters today.
CBI had registered a case against JLD Yavatmal and its officials earlier in September accusing the company for misrepresentation of facts during the allocation of the coal blocks. Nine companies have been named in FIRs registered by CBI so far. “Promoters of some of these companies have allegedly sold their stakes in an irregular manner after allocation of coal blocks,” CBI statement earlier said.
CBI investigations revealed that Jas Infra of Kolkata, Nagpur based AMR and JLD Yavatmal apparently belonged to the same promoter. While applying for the coal blocks, they falsely declined to have been located any coal block earlier and forged figures to inflate their net worth which was one of the criteria for the allocation.
The investigative agency found that the companies signed Memorandum of Understanding for short durations only to add other companies’ equity in order to increase their financial strength. However, they have not done any mining work in the blocks they were allocated, CBI investigations have revealed.
CBI in its FIR has named Vijay Darda, Rajendra Darda, Manoj Jayaswal, Anand Jayaswal and Abhishek Jayaswal. The members of the Darda and Jayaswal families are Directors in JLD Yavatmal Energy Limited.
