More ICSI offices soon

BS Reporter Kolkata/ Bhubaneswar

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), a professional body constituted under the Company Secretaries Act of 1980, is looking to expand its presence in the eastern and the North-eastern region.

“We are aiming to set up more contact offices of ICSI in Haldia, Siliguri and Durgapur, Rourkela and Sambalpur in the eastern region and Agartala in the North-East. All these contact offices are scheduled to come up by the end of this year,” Mukesh Chaturvedi, the chairman of ICSI’s Eastern India Regional Council (EIRC) told Business Standard.

It is more convenient to set up a contact office as compared to establishing a chapter which needs a minimum of 25 professionals and 100 students.

At present, ICSI has seven full-fledged chapters in the eastern region in Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Guwahati, Rishra in West Bengal’s Hooghly district, etc.
