New system for road projects

The Tamil Nadu government has announced a new 'Performance Based Maintenance Contract', which would be awarded on long-term basis. Roads would be maintained under a single contract for renovating, repairing, strengthening and widening on a rotation basis, for five years. With this, the existing system of awarding maintenance contract would not be valid from now on.
