Bank of India today reported a 166.81 per cent jump in its net profit to Rs 132.18 crore In the second quarter ended September 2005 from Rs 49.54 crore a year earlier.
 
The bank's total income rose to Rs 1,964.51 crore from Rs 1,781.74 crore. Interest on advances rose in the second quarter to Rs 1,110.28 crore from Rs 858.46 crore a year earlier.
 
Bank of India's gross non-performing assets (NPA) declined to 4.59 per cent from 7.10 per cent a year earlier, while net NPAs declined to 2.23 per cent from 4.17 per cent. Retail credit grew by 28.69 per cent to Rs 11,859 crore from Rs 9,215 crore a year earlier.
 
The share of retail credit in non-food credit increased to 26.26 per cent from 24.63 per cent. the share of incremental retail credit in incremental non-food credit was 34.11 per cent. The bank's total deposits grew by Rs 10219 crore (13.51 per cent) to Rs 85,856 crore from Rs 75,637 crore in September 2004.
 
Total Advances increased by Rs 10,443 crore (20.60 per cent) to Rs 61,141 crore from Rs 50,698 crore in September 2004. Capital adequacy ratio fell to 11.40 per cent from 13.05 per cent a year earlier.
