Outlook:
The spot rupee is likely to open in Rs 45.90-95 range on Thursday.

Sentiment: Bearish

The spot rupee opened higher around 45.90 against the dollar as the yen surged against the dollar.

Rupee closed at 45.96 after hitting intra-day high of 45.89

The premium on six-month and one-year forward dollars closed at 1.11 per cent and 1.19 per cent.

Money market

Sentiment: Positive

Trading in government securities remained lacklustre but improved marginally on the day when RBI conducted auction for securities (Rs 9,000 crore) as part of borrowing programme.

Prices of securities fell by 1-2 paise at short end of maturity.

The yield on 10-year paper closed around 7.92 per cent.

Call rates closed at 5.80 per cent, while CBLO rates 5.60 per cent on with RBI absorbing around Rs 42,650 crore from the system.
