Re ends higher at 45.73/$

Outlook
The spot rupee is likely to open in the range of 45.70/72 to a dollar on Friday.

Sentiment: Bullish

The spot rupee ended the day at 45.73 today against yesterday's close of 45.75/76 taking cues from euro's rally versus the dollar.

The six-month forward premium closed at 0.63 per cent, while the 12-month premium closed at 0.51 per cent.

Money market

Sentiment: Bullish

Prices of short-tenure gils rose in the range of 5-20 paise, while prices of medium to long-tenure papers rose by 80-90 paise.

The actively traded 7.37 per cent 2014 gilt closed unchanged at 6.95 per cent.

The auction of 8.35 per cent 2022 gilt worth Rs 5,000 crore was well bid by LIC, Nabard and other term lending institutions.

The cut-off yield on the 17-year gilt stood at 7.43 per cent as per market expectations and the price was Rs 108.65.

Call rates closed around the reverse repo rate at 5.25/5.35 per cent with reverse repo bids aggregating Rs 8,215 crore.
