ICFAI eyes Singapore foray

ICFAI is keen to set up a branch in Singapore, Santanu Ray, director, ICFAI Business School (IBS) in Kolkata, said here today.
Ray recently visited Singapore to explore the market and has submitted his report to ICFAI.
"The response from the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI) and Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) has been encouraging," said Ray on the sideline of the IBS Strategy Summit 2005.
ICFAI can conduct a management development programme (MDP), a short duration high executive training course in Singapore, for professionals based in Singapore.
Ray met M Rajaram, chairman of SICCI.
"SCCCI is very optimistic about business with India and ICFAI's expertise," he said.
ICFAI is likely to come up with its decision in this regard shortly.
"The final decision is likely to come up shortly but I am very optimistic," said Ray.
In addition, there is immense scope of consulting activities in Singapore, more so for middle level consultants, said Ray.
Alchemist HR Consulting, a division of ICFAI, can do well in Singapore.
Singapore is the centre for catering consulting services to Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and other ASEAN countries.
"ICFAI received offers from two Singapore based consulting companies for collaboration," Ray said.
ICFAI University recently set up ICFAI Education Lanka (IEL) in Colombo.
