Magnus has 350 students across all its centres. All the students have been placed in companies like Reuters, Asian Paints, LG, Shoppers' Stop, Dr Reddy's Laboratories and ITC Bhadrachalam with an average salary of Rs 12,000 per month, with the maximum being Rs 3.85 lakh a year.
Approximately 210 companies participated in the campus recruitment programme. Only one student got a foreign placement in Singapore with Dell at a monthly salary of Rs 24,000.
Speaking at the commemoration of Magnus' establishment and the successful placement of the first batch of MBA students, Dharni P Sinha, founder-chairman, Association of Management Development Institutions of South Asia, said, "Two years is an insignificant time for any institution. Magnus has, however, managed to grow by leaps and bounds in the last two years since its inception."
N J Yasaswy, member, Board of Governors, ICFAI, said, "Institutes like ICFAI and Magnus have a greater responsibility in future as in the next 20 years there will be 38 million students seeking college admission and at present, the country has just eight million college seats."
"This apart, the government budget for higher education is meagre. For instance, in Andhra Pradesh, the budget for higher education is around Rs 1,100 crore out of which only Rs 230 crore goes to 17 universities with the remaining being for salaries and wages for government and government-aided colleges. To circumvent these problems, universities like ours, therefore, have greater role to play," Yasaswy added.
