Crude oil futures prices today fell by 0.15% to Rs 5,987 per barrel, as speculators trimmed positions amid a mixed trend in the Asian trade.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in April fell by Rs 9, or 0.15%, to Rs 5,987 per barrel in 139 lots.
Also, the oil for March delivery moved down by Rs 8, or 0.13%, to Rs 5,969 per barrel in 1,108 lots.
Analysts said the fall in crude prices at futures trade was mostly in line with a mixed trend in the Asian trade as investors kept a close eye on simmering international tensions over Crimea and awaited the outcome of a Federal Reserve monetary policy meeting.
Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate crude for May delivery shed 24 cents to $97.84 a barrel in mid-morning trade on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
