Domestic roasters support Robusta at ICTA

Domestic roasters offered good support to Robusta Cherry grades on sale at the Indian Coffee Trade Association (ICTA) auction on Thursday.

The roasters offered support in line with growers' expectations, according to the auctioneer, Carritt Moran and Company.

At the auction, there was selective enquiry on quality Arabicas grades. Of the 230 tonnes (Arabica comprised 120 tonnes and Robusta 110 tonnes) offered for sale, only 76 tonnes were sold.

The following prices have been quoted for grades in 50 kg bags:

Arabica varieties: Arabica plantation PB Rs 6,550 (quantity sold 3,000 kg), Arabica plantation MNEB Rs 5,550 (4,000 kg), Arabica plantation B Rs 4,848 (867 kg), Arabica plantation C Rs 4,600 (2,386 kg), Arabica plantation BBB Rs 3,800 (100 kg). Arabica Chery PB Rs 4,400 (2,500 kg) and Arabica Cherry C Rs 3,850 (975 kg).

Robusta varieties: Robusta Parchment PB Rs 4,300 (9,414 kg), Robusta Cherry PB Rs 3,747 (11,883 kg), Robusta Cherry AA Rs 3,911 (6,639 kg), Robusta Cherry AB Rs 3,800 (1,874 kg), Robusta Cherry C Rs 3,650 (2,688 kg), Robusta Cherry BBB Rs 3,550 (1,756 kg).
