Mentha oil up 0.6% on spot demand

Buoyed by a firming trend at the spot market, mentha oil prices rose by Rs 6.80 to Rs 1,102.40 per kg in futures trading today on rising demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in August rose by Rs 6.80, or 0.62%, to Rs 1,102.40 per kg, with a business turnover of 859 lots.

The September contract gained Rs 6.80, or 0.61%, to Rs 1,113.40 per kg, with an open interest of 314 lots.

Market analysts said a firming trend at the spot markets on pick-up in demand from pharmaceutical units amid less arrivals from Chandousi in Uttar Pradesh, mainly led to the rise in mentha oil prices at futures trade.
