Sensex down 125pts; HDFC slips 3%

The NSE Nifty is down 40 points at 5,189.

HDFC has plunged 2.8% to Rs 2,697.

SBI, DLF and Wipro have dropped 2.3% each to Rs 1,780, Rs 703 and Rs 491, respectively.

Satyam, TCS and NTPC have slipped 1.8% each to Rs 485, Rs 924 and Rs 197, respectively.

Hindalco has declined 1.5% to Rs 183. Reliance Communications and Mahindra & Mahindra are down 1.3% each at Rs 553 and Rs 681, respectively.

Out of 2,742 stocks traded, 2,070 have advanced, 642 have declined and 30 are unchanged.
