Bosnia Herzegovina recorded their first World Cup win with a 3-1 victory over Iran to end Carlos Queiroz side's faint hopes of reaching the last 16.
Iran required a win over Bosnia and hoped that Nigeria lost to Argentina to reach the knockout stages of the World Cup, but their loss to Safet Susic's confirmed both teams' exit as Argentina and Nigeria reached the knock-out stages by finishing first and second respectively in the table.
According to Sport24, Edin Dzeko scored in the 23 rd minute to provide Bosnia with the lead followed by another goal from Miralem Pjanic after the half time.
The game burst to life when Iran striker Reza Ghoochannejad netted his side's first goal of Brazil 2014, but Bosnia replied immediately with an Avdija Vrsajevic goal to end the game at 3-1.
Bosnia's elimination had already been confirmed prior to the game and their victory over Iran led them to claim the third position in their group, leaving Queiroz's side at the bottom of the group with a single point from their draw with Nigeria.
