Former New Zealand captain Martin Crowe has called for the Black Caps moniker to be scrapped from the national cricket side in an opinion piece on a cricket website.

According to Stuff.co.nz, Crowe also hailed the addition of former internationals Sir Richard Hadlee, Martin Snedden and Geoff Allott to the New Zealand Cricket board.

However, he felt the national team should look for a new name, the report said.

He said that no other cricket nation adopts such foolishness and they should not copy the Australian love of their cap and adopt it as their true identity, adding that it was always misplaced.
