The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday said that the Congress Party has crossed all levels of decency by criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and added that it reflected the opposition's immaturity.
"I think the Congress Party's criticism against the honourable Prime Minister has crossed all levels of decency. And I think the BJP had responded with maturity in the past. We want to tell the Congress friends that you should be able to distinguish between the leader and the individual Shri Narendra Modi and the institution of the Prime Minister. Whenever you make attacks like this, it only reflects on your poor intellect, it reflects on your lack of culture, uncultured ways," said BJP spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao.
"It does not in any way diminish the stature of the Prime Minister, it only reflects your immaturity. I would urge the Congress to refrain from making personal attacks on the Prime Minister otherwise we will be compelled to respond with double force in future," he added.
The BJP's comment came a day after Congress president Sonia Gandhi lashed out at Prime Minister Modi for sinking to a new low by referring to the former UPA regime in despicable terms on his recent foreign tour.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha, the Congress president criticized Prime Minister Modi and his government for a 'blatant U-turn' on their promise of transparency and good governance.
"The PM in the election campaign made many fraudulent promises about transparency. And continues to do so. In a blatant U-turn, his government, through the absence of a Chief Information Commissioner, has made sure that the highest offices are not accountable under the RTI Act," she said.
