India, Maldives to work towards strengthening investment in trade cooperation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maldives President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayoom agreed to take measures to strengthen investment in trade cooperation.

"The Prime Minister conveyed to Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayoom the high importance attached by India to its relations with the Maldives and pledged to work towards further enhancing bilateral cooperation," said Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh.

"Both the leaders acknowledged that the security interest of the both the countries are interlinked and agreed that each side would continue to be sensitive to the concerns of the other side. They also agreed that their respective territories would not be allowed to be used by any quarter for any inimical to the other," she added.

 

She also informed that the two leaders agreed on cooperation in projects that would strengthen regional and sub-regional transport and connectivity to mutual advantage.

Earlier, the President of Maldives met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House.
