Pappu Yadav episode: 'Shocked' Congress calls for end to VIP culture

The Congress Party on Wednesday said that Bihar MP Pappu Yadav should have been arrested for his uncalled for behaviour with an air-hostess on a Patna-Delhi flight and called for an end to the VIP culture giving undue privileges to the ministers.

"Pappu Yadav is a MP. Being an MP, he might have a few privileges when he is travelling, but he is a passenger too. As a passenger, everyone knows the norms of conduct with the cabin crew. If he

deviates from the normal behaviour of a passenger then it is an offence, even though he may be a privileged minister," Congress leader P.L. Punia told ANI here.

"I am shocked that no action has been taken against him. When he arrived at the Delhi airport, he should have been arrested immediately by the officials. We are totally against this VIP culture of giving

undue privileges to the ministers whether they travel by plane or ship. This should immediately stop," he added.

Yadav however, today dismissed allegations of harassment levelled against him by the airhostess and claimed it to be a conspiracy.

"I have been travelling by flight for the past 35 years and there has never been a single allegation against me. I am going to file a complaint against this allegation to the CEO of the airlines because I

feel that the airhostess and the crew is doing this just to get into the public eye. I think that this is a conspiracy against me," he told ANI.

Yadav, who was recently expelled from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), reportedly misbehaved with an airhostess on a Patna-Delhi flight yesterday, forcing the captain to seek priority landing and call for

security on arrival.
