Basic materials shares spurt

Basic materials stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Basic Materials index rising 67.49 points or 3.36% at 2075.49 at 09:53 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Basic Materials index, Indian Hume Pipe Company Ltd (up 19.99%), Zuari Global Ltd (up 13.61%),Jai Corp Ltd (up 11.78%),Chambal Fertilisers & Chemicals Ltd (up 11.49%),Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd (up 11.29%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Rallis India Ltd (up 11.14%), UPL Ltd (up 9.99%), Shiva Cement Ltd (up 9.92%), Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers & Chemicals Ltd (up 8.47%), and Deepak Fertilizers & Petrochemicals Corp Ltd (up 8.36%).

 

On the other hand, Himadri Speciality Chemical Ltd (down 4.69%), Manali Petrochemicals Ltd (down 3.71%), and Ramco Industries Ltd (down 3.29%) moved lower.

At 09:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 675.56 or 2.2% at 31365.58.

The Nifty 50 index was up 195.35 points or 2.17% at 9189.2.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 234.74 points or 2.29% at 10481.01.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 78.53 points or 2.18% at 3689.08.

On BSE,1195 shares were trading in green, 362 were trading in red and 85 were unchanged.
