Basic materials stocks edge higher

Basic materials stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Basic Materials index increasing 49.87 points or 1.82% at 2790.4 at 09:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Basic Materials index, Zuari Agro Chemicals Ltd (up 13.12%), Zuari Global Ltd (up 12.47%),Gravita India Ltd (up 7.21%),Godawari Power & Ispat Ltd (up 5.96%),Prakash Industries Ltd (up 5.47%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Indian Hume Pipe Company Ltd (up 5.15%), Rushil Decor Ltd (up 4.99%), Uniply Industries Ltd (up 4.9%), NCL Industries Ltd (up 4.73%), and Himadri Speciality Chemical Ltd (up 4.72%).

On the other hand, Seya Industries Ltd (down 5%), Oriental Carbon & Chemicals Ltd (down 0.89%), and NMDC Ltd (down 0.81%) turned lower.

 

At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 522.11 or 1.28% at 41198.74.

The Nifty 50 index was up 155.7 points or 1.3% at 12148.75.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 211.94 points or 1.55% at 13927.12.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 70.64 points or 1.49% at 4805.25.

On BSE,1262 shares were trading in green, 243 were trading in red and 56 were unchanged.
