Basic materials stocks surge
Basic materials stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Basic Materials index increasing 21.14 points or 0.78% at 2717.4 at 09:48 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Basic Materials index, Prakash Industries Ltd (up 5.02%), Seya Industries Ltd (up 4.97%),BASF India Ltd (up 4.69%),Kiri Industries Ltd (up 4.55%),Tata Chemicals Ltd (up 3.16%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were UPL Ltd (up 2.54%), Hindustan Copper Ltd (up 2.52%), Kamdhenu Ltd (up 2.26%), Gravita India Ltd (up 1.9%), and Godawari Power & Ispat Ltd (up 1.79%).
On the other hand, Uniply Industries Ltd (down 4.82%), Vikas Ecotech Ltd (down 4.78%), and Ballarpur Industries Ltd (down 4.65%) turned lower.
At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 18.44 or 0.04% at 41663.1.
The Nifty 50 index was down 10.35 points or 0.08% at 12261.45.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 15.78 points or 0.12% at 13406.81.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 12.55 points or 0.27% at 4717.25.
On BSE,793 shares were trading in green, 603 were trading in red and 88 were unchanged.
