Basic materials stocks slide

Basic materials stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Basic Materials index decreasing 11.08 points or 0.38% at 2909.84 at 13:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Basic Materials index, Andhra Petrochemicals Ltd (down 2.81%), Astec Lifesciences Ltd (down 2.54%),TGV Sraac Ltd (down 2.4%),National Aluminium Company Ltd (down 2.38%),Shree Cement Ltd (down 2.23%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Prakash Industries Ltd (down 2.01%), Punjab Chemicals & Crop Protection Ltd (down 1.93%), JSW Steel Ltd (down 1.86%), Prism Johnson Ltd (down 1.84%), and Vedanta Ltd (down 1.76%).

On the other hand, India Glycols Ltd (up 20%), Cosmo Films Ltd (up 10.71%), and Gravita India Ltd (up 7.94%) turned up.

 

At 13:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 37.2 or 0.09% at 41909.93.

The Nifty 50 index was up 8.5 points or 0.07% at 12351.8.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 115.98 points or 0.8% at 14649.84.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 34.83 points or 0.7% at 5011.92.

On BSE,1416 shares were trading in green, 966 were trading in red and 171 were unchanged.
