Energy stocks rise

Energy stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Energy index increasing 97.17 points or 2.87% at 3481.79 at 09:52 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Aegis Logistics Ltd (up 5.86%), Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (up 5.51%),Aban Offshore Ltd (up 4.38%),Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 4.13%),Alphageo (India) Ltd (up 4.09%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Oil & Natural Gas Corpn Ltd (up 3.7%), Oil India Ltd (up 3.09%), Coal India Ltd (up 2.93%), Reliance Industries Ltd (up 2.92%), and Petronet LNG Ltd (up 2.84%).

On the other hand, Gulf Oil Lubricants India Ltd (down 2.66%), Confidence Petroleum India Ltd (down 0.67%), and Gujarat Gas Ltd (down 0.31%) turned lower.

 

At 09:52 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 516.98 or 1.82% at 28957.3.

The Nifty 50 index was up 156.95 points or 1.9% at 8438.05.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 159.46 points or 1.71% at 9490.4.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 42.3 points or 1.26% at 3392.62.

On BSE,982 shares were trading in green, 329 were trading in red and 66 were unchanged.
