Metal shares fall

Metal stocks were trading in the negative zone, with the S&P BSE Metal index falling 192.82 points or 1.92% at 9834.62 at 13:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Vedanta Ltd (down 3.66%), Steel Authority of India Ltd (down 2.87%),JSW Steel Ltd (down 2.4%),Tata Steel Ltd (down 2.22%),Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (down 1.73%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Coal India Ltd (down 1.58%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd (down 1.27%), Hindalco Industries Ltd (down 1.16%), and National Aluminium Company Ltd (down 0.99%).

On the other hand, NMDC Ltd (up 0.36%), moved up.

At 13:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 26.18 or 0.06% at 41181.3.

 

The Nifty 50 index was down 4.8 points or 0.04% at 12114.2.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 32.16 points or 0.22% at 14882.55.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 5.77 points or 0.11% at 5108.61.

On BSE,1062 shares were trading in green, 1237 were trading in red and 166 were unchanged.
