Metal shares fall

Metal stocks were trading in the negative zone, with the S&P BSE Metal index falling 263.4 points or 4.31% at 5854.7 at 13:53 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Coal India Ltd (down 11.88%), NMDC Ltd (down 5.73%),Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (down 3.6%),Hindustan Zinc Ltd (down 3.37%),Steel Authority of India Ltd (down 3.36%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Hindalco Industries Ltd (down 2.97%), JSW Steel Ltd (down 1.53%), Vedanta Ltd (down 1.16%), and Tata Steel Ltd (down 0.77%).

On the other hand, National Aluminium Company Ltd (up 5.04%), moved up.

At 13:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 263.1 or 0.91% at 28606.41.

 

The Nifty 50 index was down 159 points or 1.88% at 8309.8.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 399.04 points or 3.92% at 9783.95.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 104.05 points or 2.88% at 3514.43.

On BSE,530 shares were trading in green, 1743 were trading in red and 150 were unchanged.
